Monday 26 June 2006The final rehearsal before the break in rehearsals for the summer saw 65 past & present songsters share in song and fellowship. Songs included "Jesus is Alive", "He had to hold to Calvary", "War on the Floor", "There's never been a mountain". From Gems for Songsters we included "Is it nothing to you? and "The greatest of these".
The songsters sang "Compelled by Love" after which remembered in prayer those in the Rehabilitation centre in Windsor, Canada with whom we shared that particular song. We prayed for those from Govan, Winton, Gorgie & Sheffield as they set off to minister in Ukraine and prayed for our own community in Govan where needs are great.
Commissioners Keith & Pauline Banks shared in the rehearsal with Pauline sharing her testimony and Keith leading a very challenging devotional period.
S/Ldr Chic Ramsay announced that following over 60 years service in Govan Songsters Cathie Jenkins is stepping into retirement, Cathie received the biggest accolade possible as members of the brigade stood and applauded in appreciation of her service. We thank God for her service, commitment and the example she has set over the years. We wish her a long and happy retirement.
The evening concluded with a further time of fellowship over refreshments.

Monday 19 June 2006The brigade enjoyed a very good night of food and fellowship at our curry night in Renfrew. The restuarant seemed to be given entirely over to us, and given the amount of food consumed it was probably just as well. After a bit of belt loosening the brigade made the most of the buffet dishes. After what has been a very busy couple of years for the Brigade it was very worthwhile for us to enjoy a relaxing evening in each others company. Chic - I think the suggestion that we should go for a curry every Monday instead of Songster rehearsal was meant as a joke (????). Photographs should appear shortly, although none will be as funny as a certain passport photo. We now look forward to our last rehearsal before the summer break when we will be joined by a number of former Govan Songsters.
Thursday 15 June 2006New Shimla in Renfrew is booked for a party of 40 for 7.30pm. Cost is £7.95 (each - not for 40!!)
