Yesterday was a busy day for the Brigade, with the Brigade contributing Joy Webbs 'Come into our world' in our Holiness meeting. In the afternoon the Brigade, along with Govan Band, took part in a Carol Service in Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery organised by the BBC during which the ladies voices sang 'Starry Night'. Our Sunday worship was completed with our Community Carol service led by Commissioner Keith Banks and featured the Rashielea Primary School Choir. The Songster Timbrels also took part playing to 'Christmas Joy'

The Brigade took part in the Govan Rotary Club Carol service this evening which took place in the Sherbrooke St Gilberts Church. The sevice, led by Major Derek Tyrrell, also included the Songster Timbrels, playing to Christmas Joy, and the Govan Band. The Brigade contributed two songs, Angels Sing Again featuring the ladies voices, and The Manger Scene (Away in a manger).

Our Holiness meeting was led by the Chief of the Staff, Commissioner Robin Dunster, supported by the Chief Secretary, Colonel Bill Cochrane, with the Brigade singing Joy Webbs 'Come into our world' for the first Sunday of Advent. Following a Corps family meal in the hall a praise meeting centred on the service of Commissioners Keith and Pauline Banks (R) with the Brigade contributing All to Jesus and Keiths own 'Glory to God'.

The Brigade were privileged to take part in the retirement celebration for Commissioners Keith and Pauline Banks which was held in Sherbrooke St Gilberts Church. The meeting was led by Chief of Staff Commissioner Robin Dunster and those taking part included General John Larsson (R) and Commisioner Freda Larsson, Commissioner Norman Howe and Chief Secretary Colonel Bill Cochrane, Unfortunately Colonel Joy Webb, OF, was unable to be present, however at Paulines request the Brigade sang There Will Be God. Keith requested that the Brigade sang one of his arrangements, Share Your faith. The Songsters Timbrels played to 'Scottish Medley' before the Brigade sang the finale to the evening in 'Carry The Light'. We appreciated again the assistance of Brian Allan at the piano. Following on from the Brigades fine evening at Bellshill the Brigade sang 'All to Jesus' in our Holiness Meeting. Our evening worship was led by Captain Stephen Poxon from Paisley Citadel. The brigade performed a wide ranging programme of music at Bellshill Corps this evening. The programme included familiar numbers including God of my praise, War on the floor and Distant Land. We also featured vocal and brass soloists. An enthusiastic and receptive congregation heard the Brigade revel in the excellent accoustic and the Brigades efforts were very well received. We again thank Brian Allan for his accompaniments, this time at his home Corps.

Govan Citadel Corps celebrated its 126th Anniversary weekend with a partnership festival with Bellshill and Govan Bands on Saturday evening. We were also privileged to have Lt Colonel Trevor Davis leading our weekend meetings. The Brigade contributed Andrew Blyth and Billy Hastings 'Rock Eternal' with the Timbrels playing to 'Mighty to Save'.
Our rehearsal tomorrow will concentrate on music for Saturdays festival at Bellshill Corps and our forthcoming carol concerts. Our accompanist, Brian Allen, is unable to join us for rehearsal and we are grateful to Sarah Stuart for assisting at the piano.

Our rehearsal concentrated with music for our forthcoming engagements at the retirement of Commissioner Pauline and Keith Banks, our festival at Bellshill Corps and Carol Concerts. In addition work was done on Ray Steadman - Allens 'The Christian Mission' and from the most recent publication for songsters 'A Prayer Prelude" by John Martin. Norman Bearcrofts lovely arrangement of 'Silent Night, was also contrasted with Graham Press' 'Singin' in the heavenly choir'.

A new number for the Brigade 'Singing in the Heavenly choir' may be a valuable addition to the repertoire. Norman Bearcrofts arrangement of Silent Night will be rehearsed next week along with new music by Dorothy Gates which she has generously given for our use.

At time of reporting the Brigade are making their way back from Reading by coach having completed their weekend campaign.
Our Saturday evening programme was preceded by a very warm welcome from our hosts and a delicious meal, A well attended meeting heard the Brigade feature a number of our soloists and timbrels as well as many numbers from our current repertoire including I Feel Like Praisin Him', Distant Land', All things Bright and Beautiful', and many others. The Brigade were well supported by Reading Central Band who played Robert Schramms 'A Childrens Song'. It was also good to meet friends formerly associated with Govan Corps including the Divisional Commander Major Christine Baillie.
Our Holiness meeting was led by Songster Sergeant Elma Stewart and concentrated on Gods claims on our lives and highlighted that nothing less than our all was sufficient. The Brigade contributed 'Take My Life' and 'All to Jesus'.
Our afternoon festival was again well supported by Reading Central Songsters, Band and Young Peoples Band, the Singing Company having sung beautifully in our Holiness Meeting. The Brigade again offered a number of items from our soloists and Timbrels and songs from our repertoire including 'Just as I am', Go Down Moses', and afer joining with Reading Songsters in 'One Life To Live' concluded with 'Total Praise' - which summed up the weekend.
The Brigade are grateful for the welcome they have received from their friends in Reading, and the support of the Commanding Officers and local sections. God has been worshipped and glorified.

There was one meeting in Govan Citadel yesterday with our Holiness meeting being led by CSM David Gibb whilst Majors Dererk and Helen Tyrell are on holiday, and the Brigade sang 'What a friend'. In the afternoon our young people joined with Kilbirnie young people for a festival of praise.

The Brigade will leave Govan Citadel at 6.00 pm tonight to travel to Reading for their weekend visit. There will also be a celebration of a special birthday for Helena Cochrane. Her exact age is, of course, a closely guarded secret, however a reliable source has revealed that she may be half way towards receiving a telegram from the Queen. Happy Birthday Helena!

The Brigade performed a fine programme of music in Woodhill Evengelical Church last evening. A very fill filled hall and an enthusiastic congregation heard the songsters sing many of the songs from our current repertoirs, but also included 'We saw love' in addition to 'Great, Great Morning' 'I feel like praisin Him', 'God of my praise' and many others. Again, we thank Brian Allan for his accompaniments. The Brigade will next be on duty on Saturday evening to support Sunderland M
The first rehearsal of the new season got under way with 'Jesus is Alive' and included a number of songs from last season which will continue in our repertoire. The rehearsal also included a couple of songs which we have not used for some time, 'Footprints in the sand' and 'God and God alone'.

Our numbers were depleted this weekend due to a local Bank Holiday, however it was good meet Major John Mills again. Major John is visiting Scotland with his wife Miriam. Major John acted as tour guide, and path smoother during the Brigades visit to Canada 2 years ago.

Our Holiness meeting was led by Colonels Robin and Shona Forsyth who are currently home on holiday from their appointment in New Zealand, and the Brigade sang 'Somebody prayed for me. In our Praise and Salvation meeting conducted by our own commanding officers the Brigade accompanied Audrey as she sang 'Someones prayin'.

Our Holiness Meeting was led by Major Derek Tyrell this morning. We were relatively short in numbers as our young people are enjoying their weekend camp at Aberfoyle, and we will join with them in Aberfoyle this afternoon for a service. The Brigade offered Ivor Bosankos' 'I'll Not Turn Back' in our meeting, accompanied by Joyce Ramsay.

The Brigade had the privilege of having two new accompanists to assist us in rehearsal last night. Our regular accompanist, Brian Allen, was unavailable and we were assisted by Major Helen Tyrell at the piano. Also assisting us for the first time was Young Peoples Band Member Gregor Keachie who will accompany the Brigade with Alexander Addis arrangement of 'All to Jesus'. New video added to Video Page. Our Harvest Sunday meetings were conducted by our Commanding Officers Majors Helen and Derek Tyrell, and during our holiness meeting were were also privileged to witness the swearing in of our newest soldier, Emma Whyte. The Brigade contributed 'His Provision'. Our evening Praise and Salvation Meeting took the form of a songs of praise with the Brigade singing 'Rock Eternal'.

Our rehearsal last night included items which we hope to have available for our forthcoming visit to Reading in October, and songs requested by Commissioners Keith and Pauline Banks for their retirement ceremony in December this year. Songs included 'ShareYour Faith' and 'We Saw Love'. It was good to see Ann and Willie Wilson, and Hazel Ferguson return after periods of ill health

The Brigade were again privileged to be invited to Ayr Citadel to take part in their August Cafe Church. We also took part in the morning Holiness meeting, contributing 'In Jesus' Name' and 'His strength is perfect'. We were also delighted that Marjorie and Stewart Watson were involved in the days meetings. Following an excellent lunch in the hall we took part in a march of witness and a very well attended open air meeting which featured the Brigade and Timbrels. It was good to see a number of people who had been contacted at the open air attending the Cafe Church. Marjory delighted the congregation with her singing, and the Brigade and Timbrels offered a varied programme of music including, God of my Praise, Distant Land, With Wings as Eagles and Surely He has borne our griefs.

This evening the Brigade gave a programme of music at Glasgow West Corps, We featured a number of items from our current repertoire, and included an addition to the repertoire, Great, Great Morning, In addition to the Timbrels playing to Sandi Pattis Let There Be Praise our soloists were Lorna McIntyre, Moira Wilson, Fraser and Matthew Ramsay. The Songster Timbrels and Govan Band visited the Isle of Arran on an outreach visit organised by Divisional Headquarters. An early rise to catch the ferry for a 45 minute crossing was followed by a united church service. Due to difficulties with the timbrels accompaniment CD (or lack thereof) a rehearsal was required for the Band to be able to accompany the timbrels with Goldcrest and Mighty to save. Following lunch the group conducted a service in a residential care home before catching the ferry home.

Our rehearsal again focussed on our forthcoming visits to Glasgow West and Ayr Citadel. We were also delighted to be joined by Major Helen Tyrell. We were pleased to learn that Emma Whyte will be commissioned as a senior soldier in the next few weeks and will soon be taking her place in the Brigade. Two of our oung people will also be assisting the Brigade with accompaniments, Gregor Keachie at the piano and David Wilson with bass guitar.

The Divisional Commander, Major Ivor Telfer ,installed Majors Helen and Derek Tyrell as the Commanding Officers of the Govan Citadel Corps. The Brigade sang Katy Richardsons ' Take my life' and at the request of Major Tyrell did so to good effect whilst standing amongst the congregation. In our afternoon Praise meeting the Brigade sang ' Jesus is alive' with Fraser Pearce accompanying.
